The South Col Bar at Varnabas Museum Hotel symbolizes the critical point in a climber’s journey—the neck from which they proceed toward their dream of reaching the summit. However, in the truest sense, a successful summit is not just about reaching the peak but safely returning to base camp.
The name Varnabas carries a deeper meaning. Derived from Varna and Bas, it symbolizes a garland woven from flowers of various colors, representing diversity and unity. True to its vision, Varnabas Museum Hotel is dedicated to celebrating Nepal’s rich culture and festivals while also fostering crucial climate discussions through its thematic bar. It stands as a microcosm of Nepal itself, embodying the grandeur of the Himalayas, its towering peaks, deep valleys, and fragile glaciers.
The South Col Dialogue is set to launch on February 1st, addressing global climate change challenges and their far-reaching impacts. The South Col Dialogue Think Team has been formed, comprising Rajendra Bajgain, Bhusan Dahal, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Arup Rajouria, and Erik Solheim. With Bhusan Dahal as the showman, key speakers Arup and Erik will lead the discussions.

Dear Valued Guest,
Varnabas Museum Hotel stands apart with its unique identity, reflecting Himal, Pahad, and Terai through its architecture and exterior design. The hotel’s key attractions—South Col, Gokyo, and EBC—carry rich stories, just like Talenu and Gorkha Baithak, which are deeply rooted in Nepal’s history and culture.
We take pride in celebrating Nepali festivals and showcasing authentic Nepali art and artifacts. To ensure that guests fully appreciate the stories behind our interiors and heritage, we have implemented a Booking-First Reservation Only policy.
This policy ensures that every visitor experiences Varnabas Museum Hotel as more than just a stay—it is a journey through Nepal’s rich heritage and traditions.
Thank you for your cooperation.
